Dad is laid to rest in his Normandy Veteran uniform. Funeral service at St Wilfrid's Church, Chichester, where Raymond, Chris, Bob and Matt now worship. No black clothing, everyone in bright colours. Church looks beautiful with fabulous flowers. Dad's coffin is draped with the Union flag, and his medals are on top of it, along with his NVA beret; members of the Normandy Veteran Association are among the mourners. Matthew sang The Impossible Dream from the Man of la Mancha, Greg read a beautiful reading - a family occasion; fabulous hymns; the Last Post sounded prior to his coffin leaving the church. Dad would have felt so honoured and would have loved it all; a real celebration of his life. We are so pround of him. Cremation followed.
